About the readings:

The readings in this module aim to offer a comprehensive overview of the depressive disorders and bipolar and related disorders that are historically referred to as mood disorders. The empirical articles assigned offer insight into the cultural aspects that we must tune in to for persons presenting with symptoms of depressive or bipolar and related disorders, as well as to the stigma and what will be useful to aid in resiliency.

As stated in earlier modules, the boundaries differentiating diagnoses are diffuse, as symptom criteria from one category to the next overlap. Keep this in mind as you review the major criteria and features for these diagnostic categories.
